Mara, selecting Azaelas and planting them, and viewing them always remind me of the beautiful springtime season and even the Masters golf tournament over at Augusta. What a great place you have in your local area to pick out some beauty and plant in the landscape.
I have always loved azaleas.....my grandmother's house in Hartford (Geneva County) had some of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen. I never had as much luck with them as she did.
Mara, It sounds like a wonderful charity...I only wish it were warm enough to plant here!
Gary - Azaleas can bring beauty AND help for children when you buy them from the Kiwanis Club. I like that!
Ann - At least you have a great appreciation for them because of your grandmother...that is a lovely gift she gave you :-)
Carole - Hope it warms up soon for you! thanks for stopping by to smell the roses azaleas :-)
Azaleas! We spent 6 years away from the northwest, in Raleigh. I loved the lovely azalea bushes along my walkway! Actually, I loved the south! Very fond memories of our time there. Enjoyed your comment over on my dogma blog!
Thanks for sharing - great event for a good cause - plus it reminds me that gardening season is just around the corner.
Janna - what wonderful memories you have for azaleas...definitely a longer flowering season in the south!
Ryan - yes, get those green thumbs ready! Thanks for visiting :-)
Thanks for recognizing the work the Kiwanis group has done. As a new member of the Lee county Kiwanis club the flower sale was somewhat of a trial by fire, but in the end I was very glad to be a part of such a good cause and a good group of people. Check out my observations the day after:
