This photo was sent to me by Tristan Hawks (my son) who was doing a land study in the Mojave Desert. The fact that this lizard was spotted and photographed, will prevent land development in this region, as this fringe-toed lizard is registered as an endangered species, native to this region near Coachella Valley. It's called fringe-toed because its feet appear to be fringed (you'll have to look closely).

Great picture, it blends very well!
Amazing, you can barely see em. We need to incorporate natural surroundings and wild life habitat as we build.
Wow, you have a sharp eye for catching that little guy in a picture! He blends in pretty well so he's doing his job! Thanks for sharing!
Mara, the camouflage employed by this little guy has probably saved him from a few predators...and allowed hid stealthy approach when he's the hunter.
Mara, more lizards have made their way to our area, with I think warming years over the last 20. I do love the camouflage. They blend in so well.
I bet that little guy can move! Nice picture, Mara!
Great photo Mara. Don't we all wish we could just blend into the scenery at times.
that is a cool photo....the sand reminds me....I NEED A VACATION!!!!
Cindy - glad you could appreciate "the blend" :-)
David - I've always loved the blending of natural surroundings into our own habitats; nature certainly teaches us good design principles.
Jenn - Well, as I've mentioned, this was a photo my son took (and he was trying to spot this endangered creature!) I don't think I would have done so well.
Steve - camouflage is the best tactic for staying unseen and safe
Gary - I'm not a fan of lizards, but they are fascinating, and also amazing descendents from the dinosaurs!
Bruce - thanks for stopping by and enjoying this photo
Howard & Susan - Oh yeah...totally wish that!
Ben - I hear the desert is beautiful...
Hi Mara, What cool photos! Thanks for sharing, enjoyed the post. Enjoy your Sunday.
Mara, Great shot! I'm glad there is someone to look out for these endangered lizards. Here we have the samething with Gopher tortoise's and Scub jay's.

Gary - Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your Sunday, too!
Paul - I was impressed that there are programs & funding to be on the lookout for this sort of thing. I need to find a pic of a gopher tortoise.
Mara, You had a good eye to caugh the little guy! Great shot. Thanks for sharing.
It's amazing to see the camouflage that so many creatures have to help them survive - almost all their predators.
Interesting that they are doing land development and found this hard-to-see creature. Good thing it was captured by an astute surveyor to save the species!
Whenever I see lizards I get tickled thinking about how scared my husband is of them. Snakes don't bother him but lizards freak him out. I think they are neat......like baby dinosaurs.
Happy Easter to you Mara. I hope it was wonderful for you...
