It's officially scheduled for the Auburn Tigers to beat The Ducks in the National Championship on January 10th! The town is in a frenzy!
What a wonderful way to start the new year---
AS WINNERS!
A good plan, a good strategy, a good breakfast and A LOT OF PRACTICE and TEAMWORK!

National Championship? That is very cool...good luck!!
How cool is this? Featuring teams that are not from H U G E schools with all the advantages not shared by others!
Woohoo! They are really having a good year this year!
Mara -
Thanks for your comment on my post. Can't say I didn't pick the fight. I did.
Well, Okay. You got me! I had to Google up "Auburn War Eagle" to find out what you were trying to say.
I couldn't figure out why somebody in the hometown of the Auburn Tigers was doing saying "War Eagle".
Now I know.
What can I say about a football team that rates not one but two mascots?
Just:
Go Ducks!
And watch out for the claws ... and the talons.
Russell -
Actually, because of the largese of Nike founder, Phil Knight (and other alums), the University of Oregon does have all the advantages of any big time football program - except a big local TV market.
Our Athletic Department has the finest facilities in the land. (says the media)
Oh, yeah:
One other thing we don't have: Two mascots.
Jim, thanks for the info. One of my best friend's wife graduated from there and I have been following along enjoying the ride. I am also a TCU fan wihich is an underdog here in Texas as you might have already imagined!
Rene - Thanks for stopping by!
Russell - It is pretty cool, heh? I was never even much of a football follower (shhh), but anyone living in Auburn right now is swept up in the complete excitement.
Jim - It will be a great game on the 10th. I will be watching it via skype with my daughter & son-in-law who live in San Diego. Strangely enough, they are Ducks fans! YIKES!!
hey Connie! Game ON!!
Mara it should be a really interesting game. I am looking forward to it!
Hi Mara! I was at Mom and Dad's house during the game, and though Mom is a big fan she won't watch the games......it just makes her too freaking nervous. I am SURE she won't watch the National Championship, but hopefully she will be happy with the outcome!
WAR EAGLE to you my friend. I'm a blue-blooded Auburn fan, and really miss not being in the state to celebrate!!
The chamionship game in Atlanta was awesome. I got asked over and over "What's War Eagle?". I've always heard that in the days of football after the Civil War, a wild Eagle soared the field at the time of touchdown. The crowd yelled, War Eagle !
War Eagle is the battle cry....Tigers are the mascot.
Now days, it's WDE !
Congratulations to your team! Now go win the big one!! and in the meantime Mara, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and the happiest holiday season!
Mara Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Wishing you a prosperous and healthy 2011. I know you've been a good girl this year so I'm sure that Santa is coming to your house tonight!

Mara, How sure are you that those Tigers are going to beat the Ducks? What are you going to promise if the the score is reversed? Would make a cute follow up post.
