WINDOW SHOPPING - Two Cents Worth of Gaining Perspective

I was getting an eye exam a few years back, and the optometrist, in the uncomfortably quiet office, was peering into my eye with a microscopic instrument for what seemed to be a very long minute. "Can you see my soul?" I asked.

We didn't see eye-to eye on a sense of humor, but it made me think about shutter speeds of our captured experiences...the images that make us look twice or think again and touch us in so many ways, framing our perceptions and memories of lifetimes.

When I was a young mother, I didn't have the instrumentation available to me for capturing the instant, animated moments that swirled throughout the growing years, but would often pause for a still moment, just to let my heart soak in the wonder-filled gifts and familiar surprises.  I sometimes recall images and try to translate  them into words.

I am also joyfully reminded, via iphone snapshots, Skype and Flip videos, shared with me by my grown children and some of their friends that grew up alongside mine, that their techno-captured world is an animated exhibit, dancing amidst the still life, upon the window-sill life, looking through the transparency of Soul.

I-CONE REPLACES TWITTER - Illustrated Notes According to Lyric

More than understanding your market for Twitter and other Social Media, you need to understand, first and foremost, how to move in the real world. My 4-year-old grandson is doing daily research and packing up a ton of experience for his future ventures. He keeps me current via Skype and his mom and dad's FB.

Recently, his mom suggested they make ice cream with their homemade ice cream maker. He was sold on the idea, and, in turn, tried to sell his mom on the idea of also making an ice cream truck for their venture. Seemed like a perfect application for expanding services!

Here he illustrates how, for some, there are applications more preferred than twitter:

twitter on an i-cone?

                                                Collecting Gems

                    Studying Patterns & Pieces

                  Climbing the Walls

                                                                                  Riding a Rainbow Wave

Painting a House for the Tribe

AROUND SOUND - Fun With Google Calendar

got entirely sidetracked this evening, playing with Google Calendar, and creating a music & theatre Events Calendar for my local town of Auburn Alabama.

Now I need to re-trace my steps to figure out what I did exactly, but it was surprisingly fun!  Google spells out all of the steps. I always struggle with these things, so I can assure you that, even if you feel like you're all un-teched thumbs, you will smile at what you can do with this calendar :-)

(SOUNDing GOOD???)

and, like magic, it got into my sidebar...

Truly, what would a HOME be without some MUSIC?

@#SMMW - SUBS & PUBS & BIG PICTURE BEER

TGIF because I'll tune in once again to the 12-week Social Media & Marketing Webinar, hosted by DOMUS CONSULTING GROUP, moderated by  founders KEVIN BOER and PAT KITANO and supported by Active Rain's BRAD ANDERSOHN. Each week we jump on the web and surf a new wave of instruction and information that is value-packed with a pair of training wheels as we are all processing the surge of web-based applications to use in our marketing.  This particular webinar is focused on the marketing side that is applied through Social Media.  Tuning in to this forum has given me a place for learning to understand the framework and powerful potential of Twitter---which has totally surprised me...I never would have considered it to be the UNBELIEVEABLE  power tool that it is for your marketing efforts!  We're also learning to understand RSS (Real Simple Syndication) which Kevin Boer and Pat Kitano refer to as "the glue that holds much of the social media together."  AHA! I love these images. They really help me understand the big picture! THE BIG PICTURE that is hopping with excellent  brews of easier-to-digest information. I guarantee you'll be buzzed with excitement over all the potential, real, down-to-earth possibilities for your everyday business efforts.  Last week we learned to distinguish between PUBlishers and SUBscribers , explained as the two components of RSS (ding! ding!).  The Domus guys spelled this out, illustrating how THE PUBLISHER is a website that produces content and a SUBSCRIBER is the reader of that content. Tools like FEED READERS (google reader, netvines & tons of others) provide a framework for ordering and organizing all of your subscriptions. This basically allows the media to arrive in your inbox, saving you a lot of time and effort and navigating around. It's all very cool, calm and collected---and did I mention FUN?!
